Frequently Asked Questions
Who is the Life Discipleship and Leadership program for?
The Life Discipleship and Leadership program is geared toward college-aged young adults. Many use it as a gap year after high school, a break after some college, or an entry-level position after college graduation. It can also be an excellent next step for summer staff or camp alumni who want to spend more time serving at camp.
Where is the Life Discipleship and Leadership program offered?
It is currently offered at both Camp Berea and Camp Monadnock.
Is this a paid or unpaid position?
This is a paid position that also includes room and board.
What is included in the program? Where will I live?
As a residential program, housing at your camp location and many of your meals are covered as part of the program. You will also be paid an hourly wage for the time you spend actively working at camp.
What will I do as part of the Life Discipleship and Leadership program?
You will get a range of experiences as you serve in almost all areas of camp. From working in the kitchen and maintaining facilities to specialized training, get ready for an inside look at camping ministry and many opportunities to build your resume.
Can I request to work in a certain specialty?
Life Discipleship and Leadership program participants are typically not assigned to just one department, although we try to match your responsibilities to your skills and passions. Though we want you to get a lot of different experiences while you’re here, we do our best to customize the program to your interests and aptitude and give you the chance to get specialized training (e.g. a lifeguard certification) if you express the desire.

Why work at Berea Ministries?
Berea Ministries is so much bigger than a network of camps or a calendar full of weekend retreats. Berea Ministries exists to help each person take their next step with Jesus Christ.
When you work here, you will play a direct role in helping people experience life change within the context of meaningful relationships and memorable experiences…while having a whole lot of fun yourself!
Working at Berea Ministries provides a unique opportunity to gain a wide range of experience, develop an extensive skillset, and work with and learn from a diverse but like-minded team. Depending on your role, a typical day at Berea Ministries can look like feeding 400 people, leading an epic game of dodgeball, creating a welcoming space for incoming guests, discipling campers as they prepare to become disciples back at home, or answering phones and filling out paperwork.
Working at Berea Ministries is perfect for you if you have:
- A heart for God, service, and teamwork
- A passion for growth
- A love for new experiences and the desire to develop a diverse skillset
- Flexibility and the ability to respond to challenges as they arise (no two days at camp are alike!)
